At times I buy a secondhand guitar to "fettle". You'd be surprised at how much improvement a decent set up or addition of custom wound pickups can bring about.
I like the challenge of turning the old, cheap and unloved guitar into something that betters the big brand guitars.
These end up being excellent guitars for beginners as well as being suitable for more experienced guitarists who may want something of lower value to travel/gig with etc​
